Seagrove Beach, FL
Back in 2013, my Mom and I traveled to Seagrove Beach, FL for Mother’s Day weekend… just the two of us. I have somehow been able to turn this into an annual endeavor. Minus 2015… Can’t win them all!
Anyway, growing up in Georgia, we constantly vacationed on the Florida panhandle. The area has changed a lot since we first started going there – 30 + years ago. Not as popular as Destin to the west and Panama City to the east, Seagrove and Seaside were far less developed. Until now.
We stay at One Seagrove Place – a 21 story high rise on the beach. The condos give you one hell of a good view. The basic premise for these trips is spend 4ish days on the beach with drinks, eat and shop.
This year was much the same – I flew in to Atlanta from VA, Mom picked me up from the airport, and we hurried on down to Seagrove. A quick grocery run resulted in snacks, fried chicken for dinner, and a bottle of fake Kahlua. Thanks pollution for providing a glorious sunset that first evening!
Daytime hours yield (hopefully) nice weather, beach-going, and a workout for me, before going out to dinner and shopping. The weather was on our side this year.
A couple of years ago, I introduced Mom to PF Chang’s, and their delicious lettuce wraps. Another night, I introduced her to the world of tapas. Due to the insane expansion of the area, tons of restaurants are now available. We took a trip to Rosemary Beach – the trip was two-fold… dinner (destination unknown) and Patchouli’s (for soap by the slice).
La Crema Tapas and Chocolate Bar… we first visited for dessert. This year, we also included a meal. A FANTASTIC meal, at that. Thanks Rosemary Beach!

A few handstands from the trip…. Mom is a good photographer! Options 1-3….
Alas, the sunshine and sand excursion had to come to an end. Farewell, Florida! See you next year.
