I admit… This idea was hijacked. I was a gymnast, and remain an avid fitness junkie, so it made this idea perfect for me – Execute handstands in as many off-the-wall places as possible.
Since then, I have sought to find great places to perform handstands… some a little dangerous (on a cliff edge at the Cliffs of Moher), some a little goofy (a coworker posing with me on his last day), and lots next to well known places (alongside the Washington Monument, in the middle of bustling Grand Central Station, and next to Blarney Castle). Some give me weird looks, others inform me it’s a phenomenal idea, and coworkers have come to know me for it.
Let the adventure begin!!!
Washington Monument – Washington, DC
Veteran’s Memorial – Nassau, Bahamas
The Bahamas – Disney Dream Cruise
Mt. Vernon Bike Trail – Just a girl and her bike
NYC Public Library – Where’s Whitney???
Proof that not all graffiti is bad. Coldest handstand so far – I had to take my coat off in order to execute this one. Not the brightest idea I’ve ever devised.
Grand Central Station – Where’s Whitney?? With all those people around, no one seemed to notice the chick doing a handstand. Someone almost ran into me while on the phone. New Yorkers aren’t the most observant people out there.
Central Park – New York City, NY
I’m an avid biker… these are a few more along the Mt. Vernon Bike Trail bordering the Potomac River… Welcome to my happy place!
Florence, Italy – May 2015
Florence, Italy – Boboli Gardens – Sitting on the statutes got me yelled at, but she never said anything about this!
Grand Canal – Venice, Italy – May 2015
Bled, Slovenia – June 2015
Budapest, Hungary – June 2015
Savannah, GA – Ginnie’s bachelorette party
Stone Mountain, GA – Largest piece of exposed granite in the world located in my home town
LOVESAC – Columbia, MD… Goofing around in the store
Dominican Republic – November 2015
Bird flew the coup!!! My coworkers departure, and he demanded a handstand photo
St. Patrick’s Cathedral – Dublin, Ireland – April 2016 (I’m a little challenging to see)
Glendalough, Upper Lake, Ireland – April 2016
Blarney Castle and grounds, Ireland – I’m itty bitty in the second image
Dingle Peninsula, Ireland – April 2016
Ring of Kerry / Killarney National Park, Ireland
Cliffs of Moher, Ireland – My favorite (and most nerve-racking to execute) handstand to date
